We are at a point where app stores are flooded with fitness apps. Most aim to replace your personal trainer, givng you guides to different routines, advice on form and even tutorials. With this in mind, there is a lot of overlap.

In other words, when you've seen one, you've seen them all. Fitness Genie for Android takes a different approach. Should this app be in your fitness app arsenal? Let's find out.
The Premise
Fitness Genie is ready to use once you open it for the first time. You are immediately asked to select a body form and your gender. Three body types are present for each. There is slightly overweight, fit and skinny to be direct.
Before selecting your first challenge, you must select your body type
Ectomoprh and Endomorph might be a better way to describe the first and last. After selecting your body type, you are prompted to input your age. Once you select each, you are on the path to begin the work!
Another Approach
The idea behind Fitness Genie is that each day you are given a different challenge to complete. Each challenge is called a level. The app is built on the honor system. Once you elect to start a challenge, it is up to you to complete it. As an example, with the body type we selected and age we put in, our first challenge was to "Walk For 5 Minutes". Easy right? Once committed, the app will sit idle for a while, with the expectation that you will actually embark on and complete the workout.
Next level cannot commence until the timer counts down to 00:00:00
After some time passes, a prompt will pop up asking you to mark the challenge complete. Once you do that, congratulations! You receive a trophy and from there can move onto the next challenge. There are fifty challenges according to the listing, so this is not a weak person's endeavor!

The next challenge or level will not pop up until twenty four hours passes after you marked the previous challenge complete. You read that right, it means that in order to complete all fifty challenges, it will take you approximately two months to do it!

Conclusion
If you are looking for a high impact fitness app, this won't be it, but if you want something to supplement either your in-person workout routines, or other high impact fitness apps, this would be perfect. One challenge a day makes for focus and if you are someone who is just beginning to take exercising seriously, the slow pace of daily goals can help you make significant progress in the short term. We like the fact that Fitness Genie is direct, and many of the challenges do not only address atheleticism. As an example, the second challenge is to not eat for six hours. Pretty neat. Fitness Genie is about physical and mental health as well as discipline. Download it here (Android).
