Pong 2013 Lite iPhone/iPad App Review

Games

Aug 19th 2013 at 04:22pm by GiveMeApps

Pong is now one of those games that's made for people ages 8-88. The game is almost 40 years old and lives on in classic arcade game collections in many forms. But what if it could be updated with better graphics, cool new themes and interesting challenges? Well, this is where Pong 2013 Lite comes in!

This re-adaptation of Pong is set in space. The tennis balls are exchanged for comets. Your hitting utensil ("pad") remain as the originals, except you use your fingers to control them. Slide up and down just enough so you send the ball back over to your opponent. You get Electro music as your music bed, so you'll definitely feel as if you're in a time warp.

The "lite" version brings you six levels of game play against the computer. You can choose between 5 and 10 goal matches. Ads are displayed on screen. The lite version is very playable and enjoyable as is, but getting the full version gets rid of the ads and allows for multi-player network play! Like most games, music can be turned off if you don't want the distraction. We kept it on because it just added to the futuristic feel set up with the graphics.

Be sure to take a quick look at the help section for game play instructions. We didn't do that and thought that response was sluggish as a result. Response is fine once you know what you're doing! The pad can be maneuvered by sliding your finger up and down anywhere on the screen. You do not need to touch the racket.

All in all, the game is a nice reboot. Challenging enough to frustrate you, addictive enough to keep you playing it for a long while. Definitely worth the free download!
