There are a plethora of word puzzle game apps on the market today. While this genre isn't new by any means, the most popular games in this category are of the "Words With Friends" variety. Alphabet Cooking Chef for Android takes a different approach. With simplicity as its core, Alphabet Cooking Chef aims to get you cooking up words in no time.

The Premise

As the name implies, the purpose is to "cook" words. In Hangman fashion, you are given blank tiles which words have to be placed on. You are given a limited set of letters. From these letters you have to arrange them to fit the number of slots available for each word on the display. In earlier levels, you have to create two to three letter words from these limited letter sets. In later levels, you end up with larger words and more words at that. In most cases, we were given four to five letters and had to use them to create up to four or five words.

Cooking words allows you pass levels and gain stars/coins

In some cases you get anagrams and words are fairly easy to create. As you advance however, you may scratch your head a little bit. In the easiest example, give the letters "A", "S" and "D", you could come up with "Ad", "Ads", "Sad" and "Da". Once you fill all the words, the words cook and you pass the level. With the passing of each level, you get coins.

If you get stuck you can pause the game. You can also ask for hints. Hints do cost coins, so you have a finite number of hints which can be used. Use hints to uncover one of the letters for each word slot. These hints will let you of course create words faster so you can pass each level.

Conclusion

Alphabet Cooking Chef is fun. Gameplay is easy to understand though a tutorial level would be nice. The fact that levels do get considerably tougher as you advance is an expected but nice touch. Having a timer might make things a bit more challenging, but in its current iteration, it is an awesome game for people of all ages. If you're looking to cook up words and notice patterns, Alphabet Cooking Chef deserves a look. It is a free install and can be downloaded here
