  • Controls can be tough when the intensity picks up

Figure out whether or not the following scenarios apply to you - (1) You love guns, (2) You love to be surrounded by gunfire, (3) After firing guns, you want more guns, (4) After you've done damage with those guns, you still want more guns. If this applies to you, and you're not a maniac and a video game will do, then Plarafy Games has a solution for you.

Enter GunShot War

Once installed and opened, you're prompted to choose from one of three characters. Each character has is armed with a different default weapon with a different reload speed. While each stock gun can be upgraded during gameplay, reload speed and ammo strength is important to note as once you lose an upgraded weapon, that is what you are left with.

GunShot War is a multiplayer game which gives you three characters to choose from

Characters include Little Mon, Tough and Srump. Due to the weapon strength and speed, Srump ended up being our favorite. Once you choose your character, the game connects to the server and searches for two other players to join your game.

GunShot War has a classic retro feel. While there are levels of difficulty, for all intents and purposes, this is an endless shooter. As expected, your job is to kill or be killed, but it doesn't stop there.

Controls

While there is no tutorial, gameplay isn't difficult to figure out. There are three controls. The first allows you to move around the board. The second one (an arrow) allows you to jump.

There are three main controls. Note the additional weapons on the top right.

The third allows you to aim your weapon in any direction and then fire. We found the controls to be fluid on our late model Samsung Phone (S7 Edge and S10+) and Tablet (Tab S3), but a little jittery and an older Android model (S3) which is to be expected.

During gameplay, as mentioned, your job is to shoot and kill other players. As this is a multiplayer game, moves by opponents are very unpredictable and fast. You have to be ready for anything. It doesn't stop at killing either. Think of this as Super Mario Brothers meets Commando. In addition to killing your opponents, you have to be careful to not fall into the water or off platforms. If you do, the app will report "death by suicide"

Weapon Usage

As mentioned, every character comes with a stock weapon. Continuing with the Super Mario comparison, your character can jump to collect more weapons. Whatever weapon is collected last becomes your current weapon. Not all guns are created equal!

Note the weapons being used by each character. Once the timer is up, the most kills wins!

There were some machine guns which allowed for rapid fire. On the other hand, we found rifles to be not as much fun. Shoot and reload times will allow your enemies to kill you with little effort. You also get a bayonet and grenades to add some fun to the mix. If you find yourself in a bind with enemies on either side, you can knock them out by tossing a few grenades.

Conclusion

Don't let the ammunition fever get the best of you! This game is tough! GunShot War is extremely fast paced. There are almost no lulls in fighting. You can be ambushed, be stuck with slow ammo, or die from just making the wrong control move. With every attempt, we managed to get a few kills in and win a few times, that said, it was no easy feat. If you enjoy shooter games with a bit of retro flair, GunShot war is worth a look. It is available here.
