Ninjevade Android App Review

Games

If you’ve dreamed of jumping over ninja stars and outsmarting two of the best ninja fighters ever to grace a video game display, then you want to give Ninjevade a try. In the simplest explanation, this minimalist graphic retro-styled game will have you wanting to move up through the colored belts only awarded to the best of fighters in martial arts.

Jump

Gameplay involves you jumping over or evading ninja stars thrown at you by Ninjas who appear on either side of the display. The game opens with a quasi-tutorial which explains how to control your character. Tap on the sides of the display to deflect and destroy ninja stars depending on the direction they are thrown, or tap the middle of the screen to jump.

There will be times when ninjas appear on both sides of the display and throw stars. Jump to avoid getting hit and rack up two points for doing so. If you choose to evade instead, you will get hit on the opposite side which spells certain death. If you choose to jump over a star when it is being thrown at you from just one side, then prepare for another one to be thrown at the enemies unpredictable pace.

Verdict

As simple as Ninjevade is, we really enjoyed playing. Accumulate 10 points and you move to the yellow belt. Get twenty for the green belt. The more points you get the further you move up. The game is free, but other characters and backgrounds can be had via in app purchases. Who knew such a simple retro inspired game would be so much fun?!
