Our mobile devices are more than just communication and productivity pieces. Every day hundreds of game titles are released to satisfy mobile warriors by keeping them away from boredom while sitting idle or en route. Group games are a recent phenomenon on the mobile circuit with lots of classic board games making strong come backs allowing just one device to be used by many, perfect for party situations to keep the fun coming. Tiggel has jumped on this bandwagon and released a version of the classic Truth or Dare game with enough content and levels to ensure enough fun for the entire family
I Dare You
The startup screen of Truth or Dare Party is no frills. You can play the game straight away or customize it with the settings option. “Settings” lets you set up names so the game can be played in a roundabout fashion. You can set it up to Vibrate when you shake the device (more on this later), force the game to be child friendly only, and even choose from one of several languages! Nice touch!
There are three different versions of the game within the app. “Kids” keeps everything clean . “Teens” has age appropriate truth or dares, while “Extreme” runs the gambit of everything you could imagine. Occasionally, the app will instruct you to shake the device for a random truth or dare. Compare this to putting a bunch of small papers into a cup and asking someone to pull out a random paper with instructions. The device can vibrate on shake if you toggle that feature in the settings menu.
Some examples of the truth or dares in the Kid version are “Speak with a French accent for the rest of the game” (Dare), and “Name someone you highly envy or are jealous of (Truth). Some of the Teen items include “Who do you have a crush on?” (Truth) and “Take a funny group photo”. The Extreme version ups the ante with “Have you ever been caught doing something dirty? If so what did you do?” (Truth) and, “Arm wrestle with the player on your left. The loser drinks a short of alcohol” (Dare).
Verdict
The selling point of this app is its loads of content and the ability for you to set the mode to kid friendly. In all honesty, the developer could have just released a kid version of the app, but having this feature is a nice touch. An upgrade option allows you to remove ads for just .99. You cannot lose with this version of Truth or Dare. With lots of content and settings appropriate for different age groups, Truth or Dare Party! can be fun for the entire family or just enough to keep that party going!
