However Samsung solemnly announced Monday that they would delay the introduction of its much anticipated smart phone while the world continues to morn the passing and remember the life of one its greatest minds, Steve Jobs.
“We decided it was not the right time to announce a new product while the world was expressing tribute to Steve Jobs’s passing,” a Samsung spokesman said.
Unfortunately Samsung declined to provide a new date for the release. We can speculate that the news will come after Jobs is paid his rightful dues, which in this case could take an entire millennium.
In the meantime, Apple and Samsung continue their relationship on another front. A legal battle between the two companies, which Jobs helped erect, is about to reach its climax this week in the United States, Netherlands, Australia, South Korea and Japan.
The two companies are suing each other for intellectual property infringement. Apple accused Samsung, the leading user of the Google Android platform, for “slavishly” copying the iPhone and iPad to create their Galaxy line of mobile phones and tablets. Samsung rejects these claims and subsequently filed a suit against Apple citing they're at fault for infringing on Samsung mobile patents.

A ruling will be made this Thursday in California and an Apple victory could affect Samsung's mobile device sales in the United States, one of its largest markets.
T-Mobile USA recently decided to back Samsung in the case and opposed Apple's bid to stop Samsung from selling some Galaxy products in the United States. Thursday's decision not only holds weight for Samsung, but a ruling in Apple's favor could also negatively affect T-Mobile's US sales.

Despite Samsung's moment of silence for Steve Jobs, the company said they would not delay scheduled hearing dates because of the former CEO's passing.
